Cabasa History
The
early shekere was made of gourds or coconuts and
originated from Africa. The calabash gourd is used
for a variety of instruments that are similar in
sound to the cabasa. The Afuche Cabasa was created
by LP to make a more durable product.
If
you take a look at an African Shekere you will understand
how the instrument evolved into what we now call
the cabasa.

Afuche
Cabasa is dedicated to the cabasa and everything about it! We
are not affiliated with LP Percussion, Meinl Percussion or any
percussion company. We want to give you as much information
about this percussion instrument as possible so you can make
an informed purchase. There are a variety of cabasa clamps and
even one that uses a foot pedal so we can let your hands play
normally and still have the cabasa sound. Is you have any cabasa
questions then please email us.
